From the picture and reviews there isn't anything to indicate that this timer does not have a traditional plug. You will have to change the outlet you use to fit the plug and change the plug on your pool pump to fit the timer. Let me clear up for you what a twist lock plug and receptacle turn out to be. Each prong is made out of sheet metal and they are curved. Once you push it into your newly installed receptacle, you turn it to the right to lock it in. Then you push in the newly installed plug on your pool pump and lock it in. I have owned an above ground pool for 30 years. This type of plug and all the work and expense it will take to adapt the existing outlet and pump to it is unnecessary. Once you plug in an outdoor timer and the pool pump into it, they don't fall out. So save yourself alot of time and don't order this timer unless you can find it without a twist plug.
The product arrived on time, however the units ON toggle roller doesn't make positive contact long enough for the pump to turn on and stay on. A timer is for things to happen while your not around, this units operation is at best 50%. If I would of bought this through a local dealer it wouldn't be hooked to my system antymore :(
This timer switch works great. I had been looking for some time for a timer switch for my pool pump. I did not want to do any wiring. My pump has a 1HP motor and uses a twist lock plug. This switch mounted easily, and I simply plugged it into my existing outdoor outlet. The switch comes with enough on/off trippers for two on/off cycles.
Bought unit to control my pool filter. For the first month it worked great. After that I started to notice it not turning on or off at the correct time. Eventually the on/off switch froze up and unit is completely non-functional. Since this happened after 30-days, cannot return to Amazon and have a claim in with the manufacturer.Update: Spoke with Intermatic and they were very helpful. What I learned is the timer is rated for a pump up to 1HP. In my case (and I suspect on some of the other low reviews too) is that the pump was 1.5HP. They explained that when a pump greater than 1HP is used with the timer it causes the on/off switch to heat up, deform, and eventually fail.This 1HP maximum limit specification is actually on the product box, but is missing from the specs on the Amazon listing. Bottom line is if you have a pump that does not exceed 1HP then this timer is for you. Otherwise do not buy as you will end up with a timer that will fail within a short amount of time.
No suprises here. Works as described. Would recommend. I use it for a pool motor timer.
I've had this for about 2 months and it is very sensitive. I'm still thinking about returning it. The switch that turns the pool on and off is very sensitive. What I mean is when the peg hits it, it sometimes goes on and the immediately shuts off. I would not recommend this exact timer.
We bought this replacement for our pool filter and it didn't turn it on or off. We exchanged it for a new one and this one turns the filter off, but not on. Called Intermatic who said twist the dial a few times, but that didn't help. Unfortunately, we need a twist lock plug so we will keep until we can find something more reliable.
I always use to manually turn on and off the pool pump beacuse I never found a timer that could handle the load unless it was wired in. This Intermatic timer does the trick. Just make sure you have a three prong twist-lock plug and that your electric motor power ratings are within the specification. Can be mounted anywhere. Program two on/off settings using the trip pins provided. You can also manually turn on and off the power. Keep your pool cleaner by maintaining a daily filtration schedule, better circulation of chemicals keeps you one step ahead of algae.
Great product! This has saved me at least $150, this summer alone, in energy savings.The plug works great, and the receptacle is protected under the unit. Very pleased!It is easy to set up and easy to use, as well as very reliable!
This timer is required when you have a 120v 20amp (L5-20) twist-lock plug for your swimming pool filter. Easy to install and operate and comes with two sets of on/off pins. Great when you want to run your filter twice a day. On/Off override switch is a nice feature.
