Worthington 303954 30-Pound Steel Propane Cylinder With Type 1 With Overflow Prevention Device Valve Reviews
The one star is for the packaging, not the tank. The tank is a good value, but just like the other reviews, one of the two tanks came in too big a box with just some paper for padding. So of the two tanks I bought, the bottom was bent on one, but after contacting Amazon, they replaced it promptly and let me keep the one with the damaged base. So I have three tanks, two excellent shape and one with a bent base, but still usable. But I checked with the propane dealer to confirm it usability. So now I have a spare. Kudos to Amazon for prompt replacement. Boos and hisses for poor packing to ship
I BBQ alot, so therefore I find it only good practise to buy something larger than the tipical size most people normally buy, which is the 20lb. The product came to me in good shape...no complaints!
It's a propane cylinder... I knew I would get your attention right there :-)It's made in the USA and well made. Now shipping got 1 star as the 2 propane cylinders I bought were not protected and just put in a big cardboard box with a piece of paper to separate them. As a result, some scratches and a minor bending of the bottom support occurred. The cylinders come with vacuum already made and guaranteed 6 months. So don't turn on the valve before filling it.Of course the bozo at the local propane station told me "it needs top be purged because it's new". I replied "the vacuum was already made, it's good to fill. He proceeded to "purge" it by opening it and letting the air go in. That's the opposite of what was needed. Then he connected the rest of the pump and managed to put only 7.2 gallons of propane in it.Let's be clear. He managed to fill 7.4 gallons of propane into a small 20# cylinder, and could only put 7.2 in mine. Well, it was full of moist air already so now it can start rusting if needed. Such stupidity...So many propane appliances have in their troubleshooting section something along the lines of "never trust a new cylinder" as it might contain too much air. That'll be mine now. That said, a 30# cylinder is a great size to have: still portable (heavy when full obviously), but with more capacity and as this is propane, a bigger surface for evaporation to happen + bigger surface to get warmth from the air around it. If you have a small appliance in term of BTU, that doesn't matter, but if you something quite demanding, a small cylinder will either not be able to evaporate the liquid propane fast enough for the demand, and/or freeze as it is not able to absorb enough heat from outside of the tank to compensate for the high evaporation rate. In both cases a "too small" tank => very little gas going out or no gas at all when you need it the most, and when there's still some propane in your cylinder. So if Amazon could just fix the shipping, this would be great.BTW propane is about 2.99/gallon where I fill it in western WA. So after a couple of fills I will have saved money compared to the exchange cylinders.
propane cylinder was ok but very light weight I am sure it is heavy enough to pass dot spec but the shroud around the valve was allot thinner material than my other cylinders and was bent when I received it.
I needed to upgrade the tanks on my travel trailer, and was going to purchase a pair at Camping World. I found the same tank on Amazon and saved alot of money with this purchase. The tank arrived via UPS and was unscathed (no dents or dings). I'm very happy with the new tank and plan on purchasing another.
