I got this ladder after my other one broke. I wasn't the biggest fan of Telesteps but I thought I would give their heavy duty one a try.Pros: It goes up and down on demand. It has a nice little step like feature on all the steps. There is only one button to push to collapse it instead of having to collapse each step individually. It's fairly tall.Cons: It's heavier but that's expected since it is a 300lb capacity. BUT, for being 300lb capacity, it feels extremely flimzy once you are about half way up. The rubbers around it are very cheap. Right out of the box the left rubber foot came off and the screw that holds it in got lost in the leg. I have only owned if for a week and used it only twice and I can already feel the top rubber pieces beginning to give. It's collapsing system calls for a one hand push but it's so tall it's difficult to keep up while you are trying to collapse it.All and all, the cons absolutely outway the pros. I don't like this ladder and I am waiting for this to break so I can go back to the other one I had originally. I give it two stars because at least I still can get on a roof with it. I just don't know for how much longer.
This is the second Telesteps ladder I have purchased. The first one was the 1600, while it was very convenient, it just wasn't right for what I do. Didn't last a year, feet were destroyed in the first few weeks. I don't abuse my tools, they are too expensive to miss-use them. The 1800 is very well built, all the issues that I had with the other are different on the 1800 making it a very good quality. Easier to use, more sturdy, just a better design all around. Good job!
I am a small woman, where as my husband is 6'7" and weighs close to 300 pounds. We just purchased a townhouse that has high ceilings, and storage shelves that are too high to reach with a foot stool. We looked at the Little Giant ladders, and others like them, but I would not have been able to get them up the stairs, or even carry them anywhere without hurting myself. We finally decided to order this ladder from Amazon after researching it online. When it arrived, I was pleased to find that I could carry it, in it's case and without. It extends and closes with ease and is sturdy enough for my husband to climb without fear of it collapsing. I've had a couple contractors use it to get up on our roof, and they have been impressed enough to order one for themselves. I want to give kudos to Amazon for the customer service they provide, quality products they carry, and most of all, the free shipping option. Shipping, especially for a heavy product like this, and that we live in Alaska, adds so much to the cost of things, it makes ordering cost prohibitive. I order from Amazon as often as I can because of that and all the other wonderful qualities of the company. THANK YOU Amazon.com!!!
FYI, Telesteps does NOT repair their ladders, they will only offer a new one at a reduced price PROVIDING you ship your ladder to them at your cost. You must also pay for shipping of the new one at a reduced price. Mine has a lock that came apart on one step. It's the 1800W model and in excellent condition. By the time I paid their reduced price plus shipping plus the cost of shipping mine, it's nearing the cost of a new one. Apparently there is no repair facility for their ladders, either pay their price for a new one or throw yours away.
I saw this ladder when a roofer came to our house and used it to climb into our attic. He called it his magic ladder and I was very impressed with it. I bought one the next day and it is great. It extends to 18 feet (you can climb to 14 1/2 feet) so I can finally reach the ceiling in my two-story stairwell. You can store it in the back of a closet or under the stairs. A great tool.
Good to have the extra few feet available with this ladder is a proThe con is that it is a bit too tall for a conventional 1 story. This causes a fulcrum concern on lower eave heights if you fully extend the ladder.Other than that it is a very well made product.
Not stable, feet tend to slip, and do not climb any higher than what it is leaning against, otherwise it bows out and slips away.
Works great and compact. Bends or bows inward when fully extended you have to allow for that fact when setting the angle and I'm about half the rated weight. Also to avoid damaging by scratching the ladder surface you have to isolate it from any edges, such as roof eves. The ladder is not for the faint of heart due to the movement but, appears sound and of good quality.
