At 1.5 Sones it is practically a whisper with the fan on. Let me tell you it's a blessing and worth the money for that fact alone.My wife (who does most the cooking, love you) would never turn on our old range hood. I would come into the house to find a haze of smoke and grease hanging in the air and her working in the kitchen. I would turn on our old hood, 5.5 sones and you could not yell at each other to have a conversation.What I needed was replacement that was quiet (so the wife would use it) gave some light and would fit in the standard opening that was under $150. With the money I saved I could buy cleaners to wash the grease off the walls in the kitchen. HA HAThe Broan QS130BL does this in stars. You will not find a quieter, standard setup, range hood for under $150. Easy to operate, easy to clean, easy to install, super quite and tons of light, I am so happy with it.
This range hood definately has a different look to it, one that has my husband confused as to whether he likes or dislikes it. I love it. The hood brings the light up a bit higher than traditional hoods. It has two fan settings and a low/high light settings, along with two lights. We used halogen flood lights and on the high setting it really lights up the entire range and surrounding counter space. Unlike traditional hoods, it has a clean and finished look underneath.
I purchased this product because I wanted to match my stainless steel appliances. I notice this hood was larger than my 1980's era hood that I inherited from the previous owner of my home. So, it was time for an update. The installation was not too hard for a DIY type person, such as myself. I purchased the hood in a chain home improvement store and didn't look for the reviews on Amazon like I normally do to see how others view the quality of a product. I was shocked to learn that Amazon sells the hood that I purchased for $100 less than I purchased it at the store. Wow! That is a big difference. If my cheapness weren't out-weighed by my laziness, I'd take the hood back for a refund and purchase it again on Amazon. Oh well, lesson learned.

We had done research and comparison pricing on the internet, and our experience with the hood purchased through Amazon was super. This hood is great! I especially like the fact that it is lit. The bulbs were not included, but I was able to find them at my local Home Depot. The fan is not very noticeable in the low setting, although you can hear it a bit more louder in the high setting. The suction is great as well. Also, comes with the option to duct either through the top of the back of the hood. There are holes outlined at the back and top for you to choose which way you want to duct, all you have to do is pop them out.
Easy install. Looks great. Our hood is a little higher than standard and it still looks greatThe high speed fan is a little loud but it does move the air.My only complaint is the lights give off a lot of heat since they are halogen.I would buy this hood again.
After much research I settled on the Broan QS130. It met all my expectations. I find the low speed on the fan is adequate for most of the cooking I do. It is extremely quiet however the high speed is a little louder than I would like.
Rangehood works well, and not too hard to install. Was greasy inside and so probably not cleaned up well prior to ship. No information provided (manual, etc), but we were able to figure it out.
I Purchased this range hood because I was remodeling my kitchen with stainless steel appliances. I had a Broan hood before and I decided to buy the same brand only in stainless. I like the look and the 2 settings on the lights. The fan is quiet and works well. All in all, I am very pleased with the purchase and the Amazon price was $30 less than anywhere else...
I was looking for something functional and inexpensive. I got what I paid for. My previous fan did not duct to the exterior, which makes it essentially useless, so my main objective was to correct that. If I were buying a range hood again, I would not purchase one designed for either ducted or non-ducted use. There is a little plastic piece to cover the opening on top of the hood if you are ducting to outside, but it's not particularly effective. As a result, some air ends up recirculating right back into the kitchen. Not so great. I guess I could put tape over the opening, but who wants that? Next time I'd at least get a model designed only for exterior ducting. The hood looks nice enough. Still, function over form for me, hence only 2 stars.
