Maytag UKF8001 Pur Refrigerator Cyst Water Filter 1-Pack Overviews

Make sure the water and ice from your Maytag or Jenn-Air refrigerator is as clean and fresh tasting as possible by replacing its water filter. This Maytag Puriclean II refrigerator water filter is used in Maytag and Jenn-Air refrigerators with filter access inside the refrigerator.

    Maytag UKF8001 filter
    Effective filtering

It's NSF-certified to reduce cysts, particulates (Class I), lead, mercury, and more. (The contaminants or other substances removed or reduced by this water filter are not necessarily in all users' water.) While it effectively removes contaminants from your water and ice, this filter also lowers the taste and odor of chlorine while retaining beneficial fluoride.

For the highest quality water and ice, your refrigerator's water filter needs to be changed over a period of time as its effectiveness at cleaning the water is reduced. For optimal results, you should replace this refrigerator water filter every 12 months to ensure clean, safe drinking water and ice.

Your refrigerator will even remind you when to change its filter, turning on an indicator light found near the water dispenser. Changing the filter is easy--just locate the old filter, twist and turn it until it becomes loose, then pull the old filter out and replace with the new filter.

This model (UKF8001) can be used to replace the following models of water filter:

Replacing UKF8001AXX-750 no longer made (capacity of 750-gallons, change yearly). The 3-pack UKF8001 filter boxes say "Maytag Refrigerator Ice & Water Filter, UKF8001, Replace Disposable Filter Every 6 Months, UPC 883948139807". Data sheet inside listed capacities from 100 to 750 gallons, but no filter capacity on the box or cartridge.Change the UKF8001 filter when?? How much does it treat?? Amana/Maytag didn't know and told me to call the manufacturer, so I contacted "3M Purification" formerly CUNO Inc., 800-243-6894 and got more run-around(Call Amana! Call Whirlpool!). No-one could tell me the rated service capacity in gallons and why change after six months instead of a year. However, the replacement capacity is certified by NSF from 100 to 750 gallons ([...]) I assume that the UKF8001 capacity is up to 750 gallons, or the NSF wouldn't certify it as a replacement (big assumption).Scary when the manufacturer can't tell me capacity or explain the shortened design life! Seattle has good water so I'll keep the filter in a year and change it if the flow reduces significantly. The fridge water runs at 2 quarts in 45 seconds no filter, and with a new filter runs 2 quarts a minute, house water pressure 80 psig.So I can tell you that I paid $100 for a 3-pack three years ago and now, and I can't tell you whether this replacement filter is equivalent and a good value. I suspect I paid the same and got less filter capacity. My shipment did arrive a day earlier than promised.

This filter lasts in our Maytag Ice20 refrigerator exactly one year. It is easy to change. It does make the water taste better, so about $32 per year isn't too much to pay for something we use all the time. I've noticed that this same filter comes with different part numbers and names under the general title of PuriClean II. You may pay more or less to get the same thing, so shop around.

This filter was a snap to install, and once I did my water pressure from the dispenser was back to normal. If you'vegot a refrigerator that uses one of these filters and the water's been coming out slow then it's probably time for a new filter. One word of advice: use a big water pitcher for the first use of the dispenser after the filter change - the pressure has to readjust and it will spit out a few huge blasts of water that will overwhelm your normal water glass. After the couple of big blasts though, you get constant good pressure, better than you remembered was even possible after the gradual slow down with your old filter.

This is the exact same filter I purchased from a retailer, however, it was not a "best buy." Amazon was quite a bit cheaper and it arrived promptly. I will continue to buy from Amazon.

This filter is rated at 750 gallons capacity. If the consumer uses one gallon of water per day in the form of water from the refrigerator dispenser and ice from the ice dispenser, the filter will last 750 days; i.e., just over TWO years. In general, there is no reason to replace the filter yearly, unless you have a really yuccky water source. In a small household of two adults, the filter should last considerably longer than two years. Furthermore, with the addition of a filtered water dispenser at the sink (such as a GE undercounter unit), the refrigerator filter would be functional for a few years. The undercounter units have a quite large capacity and some use two filter cartridges.
