DIMMABLE PERFORMANCE LED Bulbs use ocular lenses to harness the output of high power Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). The light output is comparable to incandescent and halogen products and can be used for both distance and close-range directional light. What makes these special is that they achieve their brightness with up to 78% less energy than the bulbs they replace, and they last up to 30,000 hours. They are RoHS compliant and 100% mercury free. Additional benefits include no UV or infrared emissions, relatively cool running performance, ability to withstand vibration (no filament), no warm-up time or waiting to turn on and no detrimental effects from rapid cycling on and off. They can also be used in motion lights and photo cells.-All general lighting applications (distance and close-range)-Recessed Can Lighting-Kitchens-Garages-Stairwells-Security Settings-Commercial Buildings

I've been re-doing my basement and being close to finishing, was looking for lighting. Since headroom is not that great I wanted track lights and LED bulbs. really wanted a 12V system, but since the 12V lightheads were outrageously priced and looked gross, I went back to 120Vac. After searching for what seemed like man-days, found these Feit bulbs on Amazon. The lumen rating really surprised me, and after verifying it, decided to give it a try. Well worth it - color-temperature is great - super for a basement - they're probably 50% brighter than the halogen bulbs - and have almost no waste heat (compared to the halogen which you can't touch after even a few seconds).Only con is getting them into the socket - you'll need patience and skinny fingers - would have preferred an MR-16

I tried out a few different LED GU10 bulbs, now that they are a little more affordable, to replace my 50W halogens in my kitchen track lighting. These newer generation high power bulbs are definitely a step up. I compared this bulb to the Phillips ambient 4W (200 lumen output). I was trying to get as close as possible to the color of the halogens so it wouldn't seem apparent that some of the fixtures are LED bulbs and some are the existing halogens (I'm slowly replacing the halogens as they burn out). The Phillips was good, but the color was slightly cooler than the halogen. The light output was sufficient and it seems just slightly dimmer than the 50W halogen next to it. But for track lighting, it seemed to be just fine. Then I thought I'd try out this Feit 5W bulb (although the other Feit LEDs got poor reviews from my reading) which has 260 lumen output. The color is a little warmer than the Phillips--much closer to the halogens. I was concerned that the style of the bulb would produce a narrow beam but the spread of the beam was also comparable to my halogens. THe light output is great, looks even a little brighter than my 50W halogen but not so bright that it's offensive. The only downside I found was that it is NOT instant on, it illuminates just 1-2 seconds after the rest of the lights. For my purpose, these lights are on several hours and not being turned on and off, so this still works fine in my kitchen. I don't have a dimmer on these lights so cannot comment on that feature. On one track I now have this FEIT 5W LED next to a Halogen 50W next to the Phillips ambient 4W LED. So far I think this one looks the best! Will likely purchase more in the future as needed to replace my halogens.

We have a generic reading light fixture that came with two 50 watt GU10 halogen bulbs. Each bulb is on its own dimmer. This fixture served us fairly well for a long time, but we had to be very wary of the protective metal housing around the bulb, as it would get very hot. After our young daughter singed her hand on the metal housing, we decided to try some LED-based bulbs to reduce the risk of accidental burns. We bought and installed two of these Feit electric GU10 LED bulbs as replacements. The highest output from each individual bulb slightly exceeds what the old 50W bulbs could do; at the low end, however, the halogen bulbs win hands-down. At the lowest setting, these LED bulbs go down to maybe 2/3 of their maximum brightness; the halogen bulbs will dial down until they are just barely glowing. For our purposes, this is not really much of a big deal, but if you're into a more subtle approach to your lighting (say, if one occupant of the bed wanted to read, while the other wanted to sleep), this is not the right light bulb for the job.As one might expect, the operating temperature of these LED bulbs is quite a bit lower than their halogen equivalents. I'm sure that will save us from at least one more burn. While I would prefer a bulb with more dimmable range, if I had to choose whether to buy these again after knowing what I know now, I feel fairly certain that I would repeat the purchase.

I've been eager to buy LEDs for a while but the cost has always kept me away. You have to be careful because some LEDs are dimmable and others are not. They were on sale for $15 at a store I visit so I bought one just to try. It is very bright compared to my other bulbs and hopefully when they become more affordable I'll replace all my current light bulbs with LEDs.

The neck on these bulbs is too wide preventing them from being used in most track lighting. Depending on the housing they *might* work or they might not. You're better off getting something that is up to the specifications such as the Ecosmart LED bulbs.

not instant on.. light is very harsh - I am trying out others and so far this one is just middle of the pack
