Tile Redi is the inventor of Tile Ready shower products. Tile Redi is both the industry innovator and industry leader of the Tile Ready shower base, and has the industry largest selection of Tile Ready shower pans, including single curb shower bases, bathtub replacement shower pans, and ADA and barrier free shower pans. Our Tile Ready shower pans are one piece shower pans with fully integrated drains, integrated 6 In. splash walls, integrated curbs or barrier free entrances, and integrated pitch 1/4 In. per foot to the drain. Our patented and UL listed shower pans comply with all local building and plumbing codes, unlike cheap imitations which are not UL approved, do not comply with local plumbing or building codes, and will not be approved by local inspectors. Don't be fooled by cheap imitations. Also, our shower pans are easy to install, unlike the jigsaw puzzle shower bases which require a master's degree in shower pans and a lot of free time to properly install. Items Required for Standard Installation: 1/8 In. or 1/16 In. Trowel, Mixer Bit for Drill or Mixing Paddle, Caulk, Caulk Gun, Mortar for setting the base. Setting Materials Recomended: Laticrete 255 Multimax or Laticrete 4-XLT or Quickrete Mortar Mix 1102v.

Tile Redi 3054RBO Shower Pan with Integrated Right Hand Side PVC Drain, 30-Inch Depth by 54-Inch Width Reviews

    1. A great idea but only in theory ...The Tile-Redi shower pan is a great concept that doesn't really work well in practice. The idea of a completely sealed shower pan is very appealing; however, the plumbing has the potential to be difficult, and this is just one of many problems. In theory, you set this pan in a mortar bed, attach the plumbing and set your tile (all in one day if you believe the company video). It is hard to know where to start listing the issues, and I strongly recommend that you check DIY forums on-line to see what others think of the system because I can confirm that all the issues you will find are real.Plumbing: For a start, the drain is 2", as is code for a shower, but be aware that if you're replacing a bath or have an older home, the plumbing will likely be 1.5". Also, if you are replacing a bathtub, do not expect the plumbing to align; you will probably need to move the drain slightly, which will be an issue if your drain is set in a concrete slab. Which leads to my next point. I would discourage using the Tile-Redi shower pan for any installation where you do not have access to the plumbing from below. Since the PVC drain is glued/chemically welded to the house plumbing, you only have seconds to align and secure everything, and you'll be doing it blind whilst simultaneously trying to set the pan in the mortar bed. Watch the company video very carefully where they show the installation without access below and you will see the guy drop the pan in place and then lift it again before setting it once more; this is impossible with PVC welding, and it should tell you something about the impracticability of this system for such situations if the `pro' on the video can't get it right first time.Mortar bed: The pan will most likely not stick to the mortar bed. This is not an issue according to the company since it just needs to be supported; however, it will result in a hollow sound to the pan. Also, if you have to push down on the pan to weld the drain (as you will when installing on a slab), a gap will develop under the pan and it will flex. The only way to deal with this is to use concrete screws to attach the pan firmly to the mortar bed and slab, but then you've negated the whole point of the pan in the first place since you have put holes in it. I had to do this and then use the Kerdi membrane system to waterproof the pan, thus adding to the cost of this already expensive unit. Some people on-line recommended the use of thinset rather than mortar to set the pan because it's `runnier'.Tile Setting: The Laticrete (an epoxy adhesive) supplied is barely enough for the job. It also needs to be divided into two, which is very inconvenient because two of the three components are liquid and in bags, not bottles. This material is not easy to work with and only has a pot life of 45 minutes at best, so you need to be quick with your tiling.Matching Chrome Plate: This is a square accessory (not included) to make tiling easier because you don't have to tile up to a circular drain. In the company video you will see that it suddenly materialises in the completed installation, and there is a good reason for its miraculous appearance. There are no instructions on installing this plate when you buy it, but the company will tell you to `float' it on a layer of Laticrete, which, of course, you've already used up entirely for the tiling. Also, this plate will only work with pans having a central drain; it will not fit on pans with left or right drains (such as those used to replace bath tubs). In summary, I would avoid using the Tile-Redi shower pan unless you have access from below for the plumbing, and even then I would seriously advise against its use. I would recommend that you consider the Kerdi-Schluter system over Tile-Redi; I've seen nothing but positive reviews of Kerdi-Schluter.
